Combe Family Missionary Update
July 20, 2008
Family News: Thank the Lord for his protection and provision. In six short weeks, the Lord willing, we will celebrate three years in Mexico. We have adapted to the Mexico City way of life and have laid a foundation for one of few works in one of the world’s largest cities. Thank you for your continued financial and prayerful help. Many years ago a wise preacher told me, “Your family is your first church”. I have taken that to heart and the Lord has knitted our hearts together through the worst and best of times.
Our girls have been sick the last month. They have lung infections and are beginning to retain water in them. This no doubt has to do with the large and concentrated amounts of smog that fills the air we breathe. Please pray that the medicine will begin to help them recover their strength. Our doctor, Fidel Gutiérrez, is also the brother who lends his property as a church house. He attends to our sicknesses and has been a great blessing to our family.

Ministry News: We are still waiting on the authorization of the roof panels as well as the support beams for them. Please pray that we will have this all ironed out by next month. Like many other areas, the patience of this young missionary is probably the lesson the Lord is teaching. The picture on the right is how the various tarps are set up at present. The new roof panels will be attached to the retaining wall on the left and will be angled down to the right. Notice our van on the steep incline outside the gate.
Our Mexican Missionary Movement is still going well but we must go to these cities every week. We are having more folks saved and need to concentrate on their Bible knowledge and spiritual growth. We need help with the finances of our pueblo ministry. Please pray and see what the Lord would have you do for this very important aspect of our ministry. There are many churches that only support national missionaries. We are in the process of contacting them.
Since our last update we have had 44 souls saved with 3 folks baptized. Amparo is a lady who was led to Christ by her elderly uncle. He witnessed to his entire family and she knew it was correct Bible teaching to follow the Lord in believer’s baptism. Her brother, Juan, was also baptized, as was Cesar Hugo, their brother-in-law. Their family lives on top of the mountain where we are located. They take public transportation for approximately 1 hour to reach our church house every Sunday.

Here are a few pictures from our Summer Camp trip that we took in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas earlier this month. The area that we had secured was inundated with a recent flood and the authorities cancelled our reservations because the Troncones River, that is located at the camp, was flooded three times its capacity.
The picture on the right shows the swollen river flowing rapidly. There were three local youths that drowned in this same river that same week. We were thankful that the Lord spared us from any harm while there. There were 26 total campers from our group that went and many decisions were made for Christ. Please pray that these young people will continue to live for Christ and will turn their backs on the devil and the world.
When we arrived on Monday morning, it had been raining for four days and kept raining the
entire day. It was a very good learning time for the young people. Because we could not stay in the campgrounds, some of the young people were complaining that we needed to go back. I told them we were not going back. We came to Summer Camp and we will make it happen. It was truly amazing when the Lord provided a local Baptist Church located just outside the campground area to house every camper. The Troncones Park is located 5 miles northwest of Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas.Although the accommodations were not perfect, we managed well. Everyone learned a great lesson that week: When things don’t turn out like you want them to, God will provide a way, if you will only look for one.
Our King’s Kids Club Summer School will take to the streets this next week. In the past, we have
been very successful presenting the Gospel to children and adults who had never heard a clear Bible plan of Salvation. Please pray for the finances of this endeavor, as this will be a big push for our church and the Lord’s Work. Our missionary to Argentina, Ariel Nolazco, will come and pay us a visit on August 3rd. That day will also be the culmination of our King’s Kids Club Summer School. The folks are eagerly looking forward to meeting Missionary Nolazco and his family, as we took them on for support before meeting them.
We have had just over $4,000.00 donated to our Land Fund. Please help us with this urgent need. We are asking for 1,000 people to give $100.00 each for the twenty plus 1,000,000 souls in Mexico City. We are not buying land for a gym or Family Life Center but simply for a place to preach the Gospel, baptize our converts and train them to go unto the uttermost.
The future looks bright and we are looking forward to what the Lord has in store for the Iglesia Bautista Monte Calvario in Mexico City. I promise, your prayers and financial help will help us help get the most important message to the lost in this great metropolis.
Opportunities abound. Our only deterrents are time and finances. Your help with our special ministries will make the difference in scores of folks coming to the Saviour and consequently escaping Hell. Please pray for our family and ministry.
We love you from Mexico City,
Missionary David Combe
