Combe Family Missionary Update

February 7, 2010

Family News:  My mother’s brother, Jose “Pepe” Genovevo Ruiz Jimenez, has been missing since February 5th.  He is 54 years old and is from Guadalupe near Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.  Please pray for his safe return.  We do not know any more than that.  Please ask our Lord for mercy and his safe return.  The pressure of living on the mission field is very real and dangerous.

Ministry News:  We have not sent our monthly prayer letters through the mail for three months because the ministry that was sending them can no longer do so.   Due to the fact that we have yet to find someone help us, we are currently asking all our supporting churches for an email address so as to send our monthly prayer letter via email.  Also, about the same time both of our computers went down due to power outages.  We just received them this week and repairs were at a tune of $500.00.  It has been 3 months since we corresponded with our supporters.  Thank you for your patience.

This is the time of the year when strong weather hits our part of the country.  Our tent is getting hit really band and we will soon have to make a decision of repairing it or getting another one.

For the past two months we have had 217 folks saved with 5 following the Lord in baptism.  Our converts have been growing in the midst of personal setbacks and trials.  The highlight of our year, thus far, has been the baptizing of 94 year old Don Eliseo Gutierrez.  He was saved several years ago but was confused about Bible baptism.  A person is baptized after he believes in Jesus Christ for salvation, not before.  A baby cannot believe on Christ.  Jesus Christ was baptized at 30 years of age.  Baptism comes from the greek word “baptizo” which means to immerse or dip in liquid.  Sprinkling comes from the greek word “rhantizo’ which means to sprinkle.

The house pictured on the right has been abandoned and for many years.  We are trying to locate the owner.  Please pray that we can find the owner and secure the house for a fair price.  The home is located about 1 mile from where we live.

There is also a small piece of property that is located 1 block from where we currently assemble for preaching and teaching.  The lady who owns it has been saved and is moving to live with her son in a distant state.  There might be a possibility to acquire the property next door as well.  Please pray.
